If Obama wins again, (he will) Democrats will have carried the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections. Are we slowly moving towards a new era in politics? As minority groups continue to become a larger force in politics, and younger voters value social issues in larger numbers than ever, I think we are. I think Republicans are going to have to adapt or die. Oh yes, demographic and and cultural shifts are about to make the next decade or so very interesting for politics. Excitement.

Among the remarks the Post checked was Obama’s claim that Romney’s tax plan would give U.S. businesses a tax break for having overseas operations, when actually Romney’s proposal would let companies bring money from foreign-earned units back into the U.S. without paying taxes.

"Fact-Checking" is really starting to piss me off.  Allowing companies to bring back foreign earned dollars tax free is a tax break for having overseas operations essentially. It seems these guys look for anything now that might be slightly semantically murky as a false claim in the quest of appearing neutral. It’s clear to those following the details closely that one side lies way more than the other, though they both stretch the truth, so they have to force these fact-checks for the other to make it appear as though both sides did the same amount of truth stretching. Who fact-checks the fact-checkers? Anyone else notice this?

President Obama’s message this morning on Iraq

Early this morning, the last of our troops left Iraq.

As we honor and reflect on the sacrifices that millions of men and women made for this war, I wanted to make sure you heard the news.

Bringing this war to a responsible end was a cause that sparked many Americans to get involved in the political process for the first time. Today’s outcome is a reminder that we all have a stake in our country’s future, and a say in the direction we choose.

Thank you.

Barack

That’s a pretty cool lie you’ve got going on there Mr. President. You sir can take all the credit you want for ending the war and the American people will probably actually buy it. I’m not. A lot of us are not. We know that this end date was actually set by president Bush, and that you tried to keep troops in Iraq longer. You would have kept them there for years longer if you could, but Iraq refused to grant immunity to the troops for war crimes. Your presidency has been a sham Mr. Obama. You don’t want to end wars, you don’t want to give us a single payer option, you don’t want to close Guantanamo, you don’t care about civil liberties. A lot of our narrow hopes in government rested on you, now we have nothing. No jobs, no allies, no hope.

Reinforces that the stimulus indeed did not fail, it simply wasn’t big enough. How far from reality can the tea party take the GOP?

Holy shit, I love how they break down poll numbers on like a day to day rate now. Fuck, who answers all these goddamned polls. All we hear about is how this poll said this, or this other polls said that. Oh, this just in! We just took a new poll ten minutes ago that says that one crazy libertarian guy is on top. Man at this rate republicans will sift through every candidate until Obama is leading in their primary.

Michele Bachmann responded to the recent raiding of the British embassy in Iran by saying that if she were President, she would close down the U.S. embassy there. Just one problem: there is no U.S. embassy in Iran.

My dream!

To one day be called a pinhead by Bill O’Reilly. That would probably mean I’ve accomplished something, or said something meaningful to a wide audience.

I would love for Rick Perry to get the GOP nomination

The debates will just be so entertaining. Everyone is saying he was drunk during the New Hampshire fundraiser, but the scary thing is that we really don’t know, the dude could actually be that crazy. Man, I love politics, I love being entertained and there is nothing more entertaining than watching Michele Bachmann try to put together a complete sentence. I really hope one of the entertaining people like Bachmann, Perry, or Cain get the nod. Anything but that boring fuck Romney.
